Goth on Bus is a non-profit experimental arts space in Greenwich, south east London. We offer early career and recent post-graduate artists a platform with which to showcase their work to the public. Our emphasis is on art as a site of experiment, either in it's method of production or execution, or in it's display and exhibition. Goth on Bus selects and invites artists producing interesting works in a variety of media to exhibit in the space whilst striving to promote contemporary art within the local community.
Exhibitions are curated by the gallery and we seek to host at least ten events per year. These events include group exhibitions curated to a theme, solo exhibitions and one-off performance events, we also work extensively with the Dorset and London based non-profit record label, We Heart Records, who host several concerts at the space throughout the year. Over the last twelve months, we have forged links with researchers at the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths College and researchers at Performance Matters, a collaboration between Roehampton University and Goldsmiths College. The gallery has also begun to twin itself with a similar space in Germany, Rise: Berlin, in order to offer the artists we have worked with international exposure.
Goth on Bus is not a commercial enterprise and we do not represent artists or sell work in the traditional manner of commercial art spaces. Rather, we will put interested parties directly in touch with the artists we chose to work with, ensuring that all funds go solely to the artist. Goth on Bus does not charge commission or gallery hire. In lieu of any economic transactions, exhibiting artists are invited to donate one piece of work on paper to the Goth on Bus archive, although this is not a prerequisite to exhibiting at the space.
